Afro Samurai – Quick Review

Photobucket

An anime created by Spike! TV, Afro Samurai is a story about a young child who loses his father from a fight between headband owners. The man who wears the number one headband is known as a god. Those who seek the number one headband must first face the owner of the number two headband. The number two will always face the challenges of those seeking the powers of the gods. This is the path of the young child known as Afro. he seeks vengeance toward the man who took his father’s life, and the number one headband.

That’s a rough summarization of the 5 episode + 1 movie long anime. With style alone it’s a winner, but the fact that Samuel L. Jackson leant his voice to the main character just makes it over the top. While it is on the short side, being 5 episodes and all, the story is so interesting that you won’t be bothered (think if FLCL made sense..) Lots of action, blood, and a bit of sexuality makes it an interesting watch. Now the only problem is…that they made a video game of it…

The multiplatform game may share the same name as well as some Samuel L. Jackson love, but it is nowhere near as interesting as the anime. Sloppy beat-‘m-up action mixed with terrible special effects, and completely worthless objectives make this game barely playable. I found not alteration in the way Afro Samurai attacked and half the time I was facing clones of the previous opponent. Bosses often lead to a wait until he attacks and then attack back formula. Altogether a waste of money. The only true shining points of this game is the music by RZA (which is shared by the anime), and the similar art style…but we’ve all seen anime to video game failures…so let’s just move on.

Rating 1/5

Pros: Good music, Samuel L. Jackson voice work.

Cons: The game itself...go watch the anime, it’s more enjoyable.

Extra: Why would you spend your money on this game..when SFIV was released?! O_O

Dead Rising 2!?!? NO WAY!

Dead Rising 2 Logo

For any of you..who have yet to play the first Dead Rising..you have no idea what you’re missing. I see Dead Rising as the ultimate Zombie game (sorry Left 4 Dead.) Zombies + Mall + Everything as a weapon? How could that not be a great game?! Sure it had it’s flaws, bad camera angles, stupid AI partners, bad gun controls..but it made up for it with the hundreds of zombies on screen at once (maybe thousands) as well as a great story.

Capcom has finally announced the sequel to this fantastic game today, and not only is it being release for the Xbox 360, but also for the PS3 and more importantly the PC! GOD I love you Capcom. Not only do they keep old school games like Mega Man 9 rolling, but the update old favorites like Street Fighter 2 and create new titles like Street Fighter 4 and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes (Please release this for the 360 and PS3..or PC..PLEASE!)

But back to the main story…DEAD RISING 2! Zombies in Vegas baby! VEGAS! The only sad news is that you won’t be playing as Frank West (Explained at the end of Dead Rising 1), but as some guy with blonde hair and a jacket…but he gets a big Hamster Ball thing..so it’s worth it!

Here are a few screenshots and the early trailer that first showed proof of the games existence. The original was the reason I bought an Xbox 360..This will be the reason I never leave home. o___o!

This is it, my first episode of my first machinima series. It took me 6 long months to finally get it done and I’m very pleased that it is. Through the course of the production, I learned new skills in editing and strengthened my usage in Photoshop. I had a lot of fun with my friends acting out the scenes and creating the voices. Thank you so much SJ, JB, IVY, JACK, and JAZZ, it means a lot to me and thank you very much for helping me create something I’ve always wanted to do since 2005.

I’ve always wanted to create a Halo Machinima Story of my own, I even wrote a story about it, but it got deleted when my hard drive crashed. I only remember so much from what I wrote, but trying to bring it back piece by piece. I was inspired by really good halo film makers like Jamie98s and the people from Hollywood Halo, I’ve always wanted to join such a crew, but knew nothing about halo video making. But anyway, their inspiration and dedication lead me to creating my own series. Thank you very much Jamie98s, the people of Hollywood Halo, and of course Rooster Teeth.

Quick Review of the Characters/Story (spoiler, suggest you watch video then read)

The story is told in the view points of the soldiers at war who are risking their lives the most.

My story is about a soldier whose code is Z97, who is confused about his place in the world and why is he in the war when he has nothing to fight for. He continues to seek the answer of his purpose in life through the battles he volunteers and hopes to die in, but seems to be unable to end his life so easily. He meets up with another soldier whose code is G70, an ace driver, who is very relaxed in the most dangerous scenarios and keeps things very optimistic and simple. They introduce each other and decide to ignore their order and proceed to do what they want to do and lead to discovering a mysterious orb with artificial intelligence equal to a normal person. Their mission was to destroy it, but instead rescues it. The consequences of saving something may lead to dear tragic confrontations; however everything happens for a reason.

This episode may not have as much of a story basis, but is packed with a lot of action and a lot of things to question the audience of this alternative universe’s society and their world is like. I will try to focus more on story in the next episode, but I can’t guarantee much, I can’t predict the future.

I Hope you enjoyed it!

The making of this episode is just hilarious and I want to share it with the world soon, I just need to create it first. So much work to do, and I got so much homework piled up too >.>
